Application to the EPSRC Centre for doctoral training in Applied Quantum Technologies (CDT-AQT)

The CDT-AQT brings together the internationally recognised centres in quantum science and technology at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and Heriot-Watt and aims to advance the progress of quantum technologies into applications and unlock new opportunities in diverse industries. The CDT-AQT has over 30 industrial partners covering the quantum supply chain, industry research, systems engineering, manufacturers and service providers, quantum startups, the space sector and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).

The CDT-AQT will drive forward these areas by funding and training 5 cohorts of 16 PhD students in platforms and applications for quantum technologies. Candidates will be recruited to embark on a research project of their choice while also benefitting from a flexible, modular training curriculum providing personalised development and exposure to a much wider range of topics than offered by a conventional single-university, single-supervisor programme.

Application Process

In order to be considered for a fully-funded studentship at one of our three host Universities, please complete the following application form. The form will ask you to specify which areas of research you are interested in or which project you would like to be considered for. If you select a project, we will put you in contact with that team to discuss the project further and invite you to attend our annual recruitment event.

If you select a thematic area, we will provide you with details of relevant supervisors/groups with whom you can discuss potential projects depending on your preference of location/supervisor. You will also be invited to our annual recruitment event.

Please upload your CV, making sure to cover the areas outlined above. Alternatively, provide the details in the text box. This data will be shared with the relevant supervisory teams for the purposes of facilitating project discussion only.

Please note that we are able to accept international students but the number of positions is capped by EPSRC.

Once you have discussed with the relevant supervisory team you should apply directly to the host University when instructed.

Please direct questions to rachel.jamieson@strath.ac.uk.
